Beverly Hills Bar Association Committee for the Arts To Present
“Expert Eye for the Art Guy: Leaders in Art Share Insider Secrets”


The Beverly Hills Bar Association Committee For The Arts (CFTA) will present the first of its “Expert Eye…” series for artists on Wednesday, November 19th at Sotheby’s in Beverly Hills from 5:30 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Leaders in the business and law of art will dispel myths and give away insider secrets for visual artists and their representatives.

The symposium, “Expert Eye for the Art Guy: Leaders in the Business and Law of Art Share Insider Secrets”, will feature a distinguished panel of experts including Rick Wolf, Managing Director of Sotheby’s West; Thad Stauber, General Counsel, Los Angeles County Museum of Art; Marc Selwyn of Marc Selwyn Fine Art; Barbara Guggenheim of Guggenheim Asher Associates; Nancy Escher of Escher Associates; Katja Zigerlig, Manager of Fine Art Department of AXA Insurance; Matthew Schwartz, Attorney at Law; and Matthew Swanlund, Esq. of Van Etten Suzumoto & Becket, LLP. Program Moderator is Christopher Conway, LACMA’s Director of Development.

A reception at 5:30 pm will be sponsored exclusively by Citrine Restaurant in Beverly Hills. The program begins at 6:00 p.m. with presentations by the panelists followed by a question and answer period. “There is a great need for programs of this nature in Los Angeles and everyone is thrilled to take part in this symposium,” said Irena Raskin, Chair of the Committee. The Beverly Hills Bar Association Barristers Committee For The Arts (CFTA) will continue its “Expert Eye…” series for artists with “Art and Money” on Thursday, May 27th at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. A panel of experts will bring together advice and information applicable to turning struggling artists into successful entrepreneurs and will discuss increasingly innovative trust strategies to help collectors minimize estate and capital gains taxes whether passing on appreciated art to heirs or cashing-in the profits.

The program, “Expert Eye for the Art Guy: Art and Money”, will feature a distinguished panel of experts including Joe Smoke, Cultural Grants Program Director, Los Angeles Cultural Affairs Department, Hasan Shirazi, Director Citigroup Private Bank, Leah Bishop, Esq., O’Melveny & Myers, Carol Eliel, Curator Contemporary and Modern Art, Los Angeles County Museum of Art and Nancy Escher, Escher Associates, Appraisers Fine Art and Rare Books. The program will be moderated by Christine Steiner, Esq.,
