CALENDAR OF EVENTS

The upcoming panels and other events were discussed.

MARCH 16, 2005

Judith Dornstein reported that the TV syndication panel was spectacular with more than 110 persons in attendance. The speakers were informative and there was good repartee among them regarding the selected deal points that raised by Judith.

APRIL 20, 2005
The immigration law panel was confirmed as the April program to discuss various immigration issues regarding personnel traveling to the U.S. to perform entertainment related services. One of the co-chairs of the program, Pam Forster, reported that they had confirmed three speakers: two government speakers and a TV ACTRA attorney. Due to scheduling conflicts, a SAG attorney was not available. To comply with the wishes of the government speakers, this program not be web cast.

May 5, 2005 - LAWYER OF THE YEAR

Ken Freundlich reported by teleconference that the plans for the evening were progressing nicely. He was concentrating on the logistics of the event with the hotel and Tom Hansen's team was in gear putting together the tribute video. He urged committee members to continue promoting sales. Ken also mentioned that a few of Tom's high profile clients would attend the event and that there would be a celebrity band. Ilsa Jouette had sold as much ad space in the tribute book as we had for the previous years' LOY event. Ilsa replaced Kimberly Hoffman. Marc Staenberg reported that 6-8 tables had been sold out of a total of 25 and that Tom's team was heavily promoting the event. Marc was confident that sales would be high but asked that the LOY team provide him with semi-weekly reports regarding their progress. Marc also thanked Susan Rabin for her assistance. Pam Forster reported that the city of Beverly Hills had issued a proclamation. Marissa Roman reminded committee members to buy their tickets to the event.

JUNE 15, 2005
The committee decided that an idea submissions program will not serve as a good topic. Jeff Spellerberg suggested that we organize a panel to discuss completion bond issues. The committee agreed that the topic would be interesting to a wide variety of the section members and Marissa Roman volunteered to approach Art Stribly and Marion Spiegelman at Film Finances as potential panelists.

JULY 20, 2005
Joe Schleimer will organize a panel regarding enforcing participation agreements. Details to follow.
AUGUST
No panel.
SEPTEMBER 21, 2005
Marissa Roman asked that we all think of future topics for the remaining panels in the year. She asked that Susan Rabin and Barbara Fitzgerald to specifically suggest a list of potential topics during the next meeting.

MISCELLANEOUS
Jeff Spellerberg suggested that ExCom compile various talent form agreements and published them in book form by the bar association. He suggested that we could work with the Southwestern Entertainment Institute for assistance and to organize a joint seminar on the topic on negotiating talent agreements. The committee asked that Jeff summarize his ideas and thoughts and forward them to the members by e-mail for proper consideration. Jeff agreed to do so.
