"Recognizing that diversity in the legal profession is important in general, as well as being good for the profession, good for business, good for our communities and critical for enhancing the public's confidence in the judicial system, the mission of Beverly Hills Bar Association Minority and Diversity Committee is to encourage individuals of diverse populations to seek and qualify for admission to the practice of law, and, once admitted, to remain active in practice."

Up-Coming Minority and Diversity Committee Events:

Up-Coming Minority & Diversity Committee
"Programs in the Works:"

Job Fair:

The main idea is to organize a forum in which Los Angeles area employers or employers with a Los Angeles nexus (as well as possibly members of the bench) have an opportunity to interview law students of diverse backgrounds and to encourage law students of every race, ethnicity, national origin, sexual orientation, income level to practice law in the greater Los Angeles area. This is a great opportunity for the participating firms to showcase their commitments to diversity and for law students to have an in-depth look at these firms, as well as sponsors.

Barristers Leadership Program:

Four to five students from each of the local law schools would be selected based on application and/or recommendation by the law school. This program would give law students an opportunity to: (i) see how a Bar Association functions from an inside leadership perspective; (ii) provide leadership training; (iii) provide access to bench and bar leadership and networking opportunities.

High School Programs:

With the Blue Car Project, Tolerance Through Education, and high school partnership programs in place, the Minority and Diversity Committee would like to add the following: (i) legal career day; (ii) job shadow day; (iii) high school law office summer job program; (iv) individual law firm partnerships with high schools; (v) internships for at risk youth with the DA's office; (vi) junior judges; (vii) summer law camp / moot court.

College Programs:

"Oh, the Places You'll Go" seminar for college (and potentially high school) students about the wide variety of job opportunities with a degree in law.

Judicial Clerkships:

Clerkship program for minority/diversity law students.

MCLE Program:

Looking for topics of interest.
