Dear BHBA Trusts & Estates Members:

The Executive Committee of the Trusts & Estate Section is looking for Section members who would like to get more involved by joining the Executive Committee or participating in Section Committees. The Executive Committee is comprised of the following positions:

Chair, Program Chair, Assistant Program Chair, Legal Updates Chair and Secretary

Generally, two people are selected to serve together in each position.

Because each position of the Executive Committee is a "ladder" position, each person will generally join the Executive Committee as Secretary and gradually move up the positions each year until such person is Chair of the Section. The Section Year runs September 1 through August 31.

In addition to the Executive Committee positions, the Section maintains committees, including an Elder Law Committee and Legislative Committee, comprised of Section members who work on specific projects or issues of interest to the Section.

If you would like to join the Executive Committee beginning with the September 1, 2010-August 31, 2011 year or if you are interested in serving on another Section Committee, please click here for the Application. Complete and return the Application via email to: Trudi Schindler (tschindler@schindler-eyrich.com) and Samuel Shapiro (sds@msk.com) no later than 5 pm on August 4, 2010Please also feel free to email Trudi and Samuel should you have any additional questions regarding positions.

Thank you for your interest.  We look forward to working with you!

Central Probate calendar change

Because of a budget shortfall, the court will be withdrawing one bailiff from the three probate courts effective JANUARY 1, 2008. As a consequence, the court must change the days on which it calls calendars so that no more than two courts are hearing a calendar at any time.

Therefore, effective January 1, 2008,

Dept 5 will hear calendars on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.
Dept 9 will hear calendars on Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
Dept 11 will hear calendars on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday.
Public Guardian calendar remains on Friday.

The courts will continue to hear trials on days and times they are not hearing calendars. I know that this will create inconvenience for attorneys because of conflicts with dates that the district courts hear calendars, and I apologize for this inconvenience.

Please feel free to contact me if you have any concerns about this new schedule.
