Section Mail List Information

There has been some confusion in the proper method to use when replying to BHBA Section Mail Lists. This has caused some frustration, which can easily be remedied with a change in the way the e-mails are both sent and replied to. Using Mail Lists or List Servs are different from using regular e-mail. 

To ensure that replies to e-mails coming from the mail lists are going to the intended person, please use the following guidelines. When sending an e-mail to everyone in your section, address the e-mail to yourself in the TO: line, then in the CC: or BCC: box put in the mail list name.

Example 1: (Recommended)
TO:    online@bhba.org
BCC: YourSection@bhba.org

When the mail list’s name is placed in the BCC section, this is call a Blind Carbon Copy, then only the sender can get the response not everyone in the section. This is the preferred method if your reply is not intended to be sent to everyone on the Mail List.

Example 2:
TO: online@bhba.org
CC: YourSection@bhba.org

If the response is intended to the individual sending the e-mail, when the Reply button is used it will only go out to the one person. 

Only if the Reply All button is clicked then the e-mail will go to the TO: and CC: boxes, which will send your reply to everyone in your section, on the mail list.
