of the Trusts and Estates Section
Present
Pros and Cons of the New Jumbo Reverse Mortgage Products and a Comparison with Conventional and Non-Conventional Alternatives
Our speaker, Lester Wood, works with senior homeowners and their fiduciaries to help seniors stay in their home when they have financial challenges doing so. He will analyze the advantages and disadvantages of the recent changes to both the FHA/HUD and proprietary Jumbo Reverse Mortgages for both cash flow needs and purchases. How do they compare to Home Equity Lines of Credit, (HELOCs) and Conventional Mortgages? He will also explore other options to help a senior stay at home with the Non-Conventional alternatives such as Privately Funded Reverse Mortgages, Shared Appreciation programs, Sale with Retained Life Estates, and Charitable Remainder Trusts with a Retained Life Estate and Gift Annuity. A specialist in reverse mortgages, Lester Wood, is a member of the California Bar (Inactive) with over 40 years experience in finance and was also formerly a law school instructor in wills and trusts.
