Taxation Section
Presents
A Look Into the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act:
Part 3 - Pass Throughs, Corporate Tax, and Choice of Entity
The Tax Law Section's series analyzing the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act (TCJA) continues with Part 3 on business tax issues. The TCJA upended the tax system, creating massive changes for businesses, some of which are advantageous when utilized correctly. The new rules are effective for 2018 and get exceedingly complex in numerous areas, which thus requires an immediate focus in certain circumstances. Our panelists will analyze key changes, focusing on what key questions businesses and their tax professionals should be asking. When forming an entity, do you get more benefit from the reduced corporate tax rate or the pass-through deduction? If you are a C Corporation, should you consider making an S election, or vice versa? Are you missing new code sections beneficial for your business type? These questions among many others will be addressed.
