Closing a Business with Consumer Protected or Patient Confidential Information & IP
This program will explore the data privacy obligations of businesses as they go through bankruptcy, dissolution, sale of assets and other transitions. Particular attention will be given to health companies and their unique legal and regulatory framework.

JERRY SEELIG has over the past fifteen-years served as interim manager, monitor, and other rapid-intervention leadership positions for troubled and failed health care providers. Jerry and his Firm were employed as Medical Records Custodian for three health care providers in bankruptcy. Jerry has been appointed by the Federal Courts as Patient Care Ombudsman (PCO) for twenty U.S. Bankruptcy Court cases and as Consumer Privacy Ombudsman (CPO) in four U.S. Bankruptcy Court cases. Mr. Seelig has also served as special health care advisor to Creditors Committee, State Court Appointed Receivers, and Chapter 7 and 11 Trustees in multiple cases involving protecting and appropriately distributing patient records.

ROBERT BRAUN is Co-Chair of the JMBM Cybersecurity and Privacy Group, and specializes in transactions with an emphasis on data security, privacy and information technology. Bob's practice includes establishment and development of strategies to implement computer software, cloud computing, computer hardware, communications and e-commerce solutions, designing and implementing privacy and security programs and protocols, as well as remediating security breaches.
