Health Law Committee

The Beverly Hills Bar Association Health Law Committee is composed primarily of attorneys who specialize in representing health care clients and attorneys who represent clients in  fields that intersect with the healthcare industry.  In addition, membership is open to law students who are interested in or practicing in the health care field and to other professionals who provide services to health industry clients.

Healthcare law is a growing and highly regulated area of law.  Attorneys who represent healthcare clients face unique litigation, transactional and regulatory issues that require specialized knowledge.  Recent changes in the law, such as updates to HIPAA and the implementation of the Affordable Care Act (ACA), affect both traditional “healthcare attorneys” and attorneys who practice in all areas of law.

The Committee offers a forum for exchanging ideas at meetings, seminars and educational events, provides state of the art educational programs to improve education and awareness of the challenges and opportunities for health care expertise, and provides enhanced networking opportunities for BHBA members.

News & Information

The Health Law Committee’s first networking event was a big success. The goal was to attract new Committee members and provide existing members with an opportunity to network. Over drinks and hors d'oeuvres, attendees introduced themselves and described their practice. There are also a number of attorneys who are interested in health care law, even if they don’t not practice it exclusively, including litigators and business, labor, and tax attorneys.  We also had non-attorney attendees, and we may pursue that avenue to expand our membership.  Cindy Pasternak organized the event and the logistics and our Executive Committee-- Zach Rothenberg, Devin Senelick, John Mills and Mary Lane did a great job in publicizing the event and recruiting attendees.  Thanks to the Executive Committee and Pamela Weston and Shelly Rosen of BHBA for producing a great evening.  Thank you to Sponsors Nelson Hardiman, LLP; Grodksy & Olecki LLP; Hooper, Lundy and Bookman, Inc.; and Hinshaw & Culbertson.
